The 13th ART021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair returns to the Shanghai Exhibition Centre from 13 to 16 November, bringing together 141 galleries and projects from 50 cities across 22 countries and regions. This edition of ART021 SHANGHAI features five meticulously curated sections: Main Galleries, APPROACH, DETOUR, BEYOND, and Special Projects. Here, collectors and visitors can explore timeless works that transcend geographical boundaries and temporal limitations, while continuously drawing inspiration from distinctive, cutting-edge artistic practices.

The MAIN GALLERIES section assembles numerous blue-chip galleries and others with significant international influence. Leading and established galleries from China and abroad will present artworks spanning various eras and media, including Lisson Gallery, Almine Rech, Galerie Chantal Crousel (Paris), Galerie Mennour (Paris), Perrotin, Gagosian, David Zwirner, Ben Brown Fine Arts, Ota Fine Arts, Whitestone Gallery, Tang Contemporary Art, Galerie Urs Meile, ShanghART Gallery, and more.

The APPROACH section brings together 20 young galleries from seven countries, half of which are first-time participants. These include ART LABOR Gallery (Shanghai), MJK Gallery (Tokyo), Suppoment Gallery (Seoul), An Gallery (Ningbo), M+M Gallery (Hong Kong), and CINDY CHAO The Art Jewel. Returning participants include ART LABOR Gallery (Shanghai), presenting a dialogue between the painting practices of Liu Liu and Guo Tianyi; MJK Gallery (Tokyo), making a comeback with minimalist installations by Japanese artist Satoshi Otsuka; and Suppoment Gallery (Seoul), showcasing a series of works that blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary painting. First-time exhibitors are also presenting carefully curated projects: An Gallery (Ningbo) offers a joint exhibition titled "Stone Circle" by Liao Zhixin and Kimball Holth, while M+M Gallery (Hong Kong) introduces a dialogue with art history through abstract paintings by Italian artist Alessandro Twombly. It is worth noting that several galleries previously featured in the APPROACH section have successfully progressed to become emerging forces within the Main Galleries unit, making this section a starting point for propelling young artists onto the global stage.
